Magic Boost ensures steady transients even with difficult source material. This allows you to amplify quiet transients more than loud ones. Use the Boost Target to set the maximum amplification.
With up to 5 fully parametric bands, you can precisely select the frequency ranges to be processed. Both EQs can be used independently and offer unique sound shaping possibilities.
If you want to be absolutely accurate, you can open the time chart. It shows you exactly which parts of your audio have been detected as transients or sustain and how pronounced they are. The time chart is particularly useful for setting thresholds and boost targets directly in the chart for even more precise control over the sound.
The HOFA IQ-Series Transient is a professional transient shaper plugin from the German developer HOFA-Plugins. It allows you to process and shape transients (the attack of a sound) and sustains (the decay) of an audio track – even with frequency selectivity. This lets you give drums, percussion, bass, vocals, and other signals more punch, presence, or smoothness – without losing the natural character of the sound.

Magic Boost is a standout feature of the IQ-Series Transient. Unlike classic transient shapers that boost loud and quiet transients equally, Magic Boost boosts quiet transients more than loud ones. This gives you a stable, balanced sound even with inconsistent source material (e.g., live-recorded drums) without over-amplifying the loud hits.
The IQ-Series Transient offers two independent fully parametric EQs with up to 5 bands each: one EQ for the transient phase and one for the sustain phase. This allows you, for example, to boost only the attack of a snare in specific frequency ranges while taming the decay phase in others. This frequency-selective processing goes far beyond what simple two-knob (Attack/Sustain) transient shapers can achieve.
With the lower and upper thresholds, you define the dynamic range in which transients should be detected at all. This allows you to specifically exclude background noise, bleed, or interference from processing. Practical example: On a snare microphone, you no longer process the quiet hi-hat bleed, but only the actual snare hits.
Yes. You can switch between Stereo, Dual-Mono, and Mid/Side modes. This makes the plugin suitable not only for individual tracks but also for the drum bus, subgroups, or even the mastering bus – areas where classic transient shapers are often too imprecise.
Yes, the plugin offers a full sidechain section with high- and low-pass filters. This allows you to trigger the transient shaper from an external track or limit detection to specific frequency ranges – for example, to prevent cymbals from triggering the processing of the kick and snare.
Yes, the plugin comes with an extensive library of factory presets for various instruments and applications (kick, snare, tom, hi-hat, drum bus, bass, master, and more). Additionally, you can create your own presets in a folder structure, mark them as favorites, and search through them.
Transients are short, impulsive peaks at the beginning of a sound – the moment an instrument is “hit” or “played.” Typical examples: the hit on a snare, the strike of a piano key, the plucking of a string, or the sharp consonant at the start of a syllable. Transients largely determine how defined, crisp, and assertive a sound feels in the mix.
A transient shaper (also called a transient designer) is a dynamic tool that lets you boost or cut the attack and sustain phases of a sound independently. Unlike a compressor, it doesn’t react to a fixed volume threshold but to the shape of the envelope – meaning it works level-independently and affects quiet and loud hits equally.
Transients decide whether a mix sounds lively and assertive or whether individual elements get lost in the overall picture. A well-processed transient creates space for an element in the mix without you having to raise the volume. Especially in dense productions (Rock, Metal, EDM, HipHop), cleanly shaped transients are the key to a professional sound.
Yes, but with caution and subtle settings. In mastering, transient shapers are useful for giving productions more punch or taming excessive peaks without distorting the overall sound. Especially in Mid/Side mode, targeted interventions can be realized – such as adding more attack to the mid signal while leaving the sides unprocessed.

You have two licenses available. These are managed via the HOFA Plugins Manager, where they can also be deactivated and transferred to other computers.

Der IQ-Series Transient ist mein Go-To für alles, was Attack oder Sustain braucht. Der Magic Boost holt selbst versteckte Transienten klar hervor, die EQs für Transient & Sustain sind super präzise, und das Time Chart hilft beim gezielten Feintuning.
Besonders auf Drums, Kicks oder im Mastering unschlagbar – mehr Durchsetzungskraft ohne Artefakte. Schnell, intuitiv, musikalisch. Ein echtes Highlight in meinem Plugin-Setup!

Mein Lieblingsplugin von HOFA, sowohl für die Transientenbearbeitung einzelner Spuren als ganz besonders für meine Mastering Chain- nach Kompression und Saturation kann dieses Plugin, besonders im tieffrequenten Bereich die Kick unglaublich lecker wieder zum Vorschein bringen. Tolle Intuitive Bedienung und wirklich magische Resultate!

Magic Boost, Transienten und Sustain EQ, Time Chart sind nur die Sahnebonbons womit der IQ Transient um die Ecke Kommt.
Ehrlich gesagt mag ich das Plugin weil es wieder Schnell und einfach super Ergebnisse abliefert.
