Audio plugins straight from the studio
HOFA was founded in 1988 as a recording studio. Since then, we have handled thousands of productions from all genres in our studios in Karlsdorf/Germany. This daily work in the studio led to new ideas in 2010: founder and CEO Jochen Sachse wanted to make the audio plugins that were still missing in everyday studio life.
He put together a team of highly qualified software developers to create HOFA plugins that are highly suitable for everyday use – for mixing, mastering and sound design in any common DAW.
To this day, all HOFA plugins are developed, monitored and optimised down to the last detail in our own studios. Every function, every control and every algorithm is created with a clear goal in mind: plugins for a better sound – whether in your home studio, live or in a large control room.
From the control room into your DAW
We know what it feels like to get a mix done in a tight timeframe, to implement customer requests or to finally get your own song ‘completed’. That’s why we don’t develop our VST3, AU and AAX plugins on the drawing board, but in real studio situations.

Our philosophy

Screen space is a valuable resource, especially in large sessions with a large number of tracks. Consequently, the user interfaces of our plugins are deliberately compact.
All relevant parameters are constantly visible, allowing you to keep control of your mix and work quickly.
At the same time, all HOFA plugins can be resized continuously to suit your workflow, screen setup and DAW, ensuring they always remain easily readable.
Sound first – but efficiently
Nothing is more important to us than sound. Our algorithms are developed to perform professionally, musically and reliably in your productions.
But for us, optimal sound quality does not mean wasting resources:
