I have received a DDP image with an included HOFA DDP Player. Why won’t the player launch on OS X?
On Mac OS X the player application needs to be marked as “executable file”. This marker is automatically set by OS X when a ZIP file is unpacked using the default “Archive Utility”. In case the files are transmitted seperately via an FTP server or a file sharing service, this marker may get lost! That would mean that the player can not be launched anymore. The same can happen when using other packing formats like e.g. “RAR” or “7z” or when using other tools than “Archive Utility”for unpacking.
So the safest way is transferring the DDP image folder with the included DDP player as a ZIP file. On OS X, the receiver of the DDP image should unpack that zip file using the “Archive Utility”, which is normally used by default when double clicking on a ZIP file. If it is not the default tool, you can right-click on the Player and choose “Open With”->”Archive Utility.app” from the context menu.
